Yoshinori Suzuki is Land O’Lakes Endowed Professor of Supply Chain Management in the Department of Supply Chain Management at the College of Business, Iowa State University. He holds a bachelor of science degree in Business and Economics from Sophia University (Tokyo Japan), a Master of Business Administration degree in Marketing (with distinction) from New York University Stern School of Business, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Business Logistics from The Pennsylvania State University Smeal College of Business. Dr. Suzuki has several years of industry experience. His work experiences include sales, logistics management, and transportation management activities. He is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma, and the Phi Kappa Phi honor societies.
Dr. Suzuki is the recipient of the Land O’Lakes Endowed Professorship in Supply Chain Management in 2018, Dean’s Professorship in Supply Chain Management in 2016, Sturgeon Faculty Fellowship in 2013, Jacobson Companies Fellowship in 2007, and Robert and Jane Sturgeon Fellowship in 2001. He was awarded several research grants in recent years from such organizations as Des Moines International Airport, Ruan Transportation Management Systems, GROWMARK, C.H. Robinson Worldwide, JB Hunt Transport, and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Other awards and recognitions include Iowa State University College of Business Senior Faculty Research Award (2014), John J Coyle Scholarship in Business Logistics (1998), Robert D. Pashek Scholarship in Business Logistics (1997), Smeal College Teaching Fellow (1996), Stern Scholar (1991), and Kao Corporation’s Overseas Education Scholarship (1990).
Dr. Suzuki’s research interest is in mathematical modeling of logistics and transportation problems. Most of his recent research works have been conduced in the airline and motor carrier industries. His recent research work has appeared in such journals as Computers & Industrial Engineering, Transportation Research (Parts A, D, E), Journal of Transportation Engineering, Naval Research Logistics, Decision Sciences, Decision Support Systems, International Journal of Production Research, International Journal of Production Economics, Transportation Journal, Journal of the Transportation Research Forum, Journal of Business Logistics, and International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management. Dr. Suzuki is currently serving as the Co-Editor-in-Chief of Transportation Journal, and Associate Editor of Journal of Business Logistics. He is also the co-author of the textbook Transportation: A Global Supply Chain Perspective (9th edition).
